Fluke & Sea Bass Fishing Point Pleasant NJ
When judging a fish by its table qualities, fluke and sea bass rank as the finest in New Jersey fishing.
These fish are not exactly considered “big game” but they are scrappy fighters, capable of shaking their head, pulling out some drag, and putting a big bend on your rod.
Fluke and sea bass are caught by bait fishing or jigging , when still fishing or drifting. Other species of fish are usually boated while fishing for sea bass and fluke. Recently a customer caught a 62 pound cobia on a 17 pound test line. Stripers, blues, weakfish and small sharks are a common by-catch, also.
In New Jersey fishing, sea bass run from ¾ pound to 8 pounds and are generally caught on rocky bottom or over wrecks.
Fluke usually run from 1 pound to 10 pounds with an occasional 15 pounder. We catch fluke on open bottom and over reefs, ridges, and rough bottom.
One of the best New Jersey fishing trips will also send you home with a bunch of fillets for everyone in the family or party to enjoy. Ask Wayne, the first mate, for some good receipes as he is filleting your fish, back at the dock.
